I think your son's delight in the taxi tells you all you need to know - our children need to have some spaces and places in their lives where the faces around them do reflect their own. I wish you all the best going forward as your son grows, and I hope you can eventually find a community to live in where you and your family are not subject to constant stares and questions. This will be important to him when he is a bit older.

Awesome tale. Dagim has you, and that is huge. What a lucky kid of lucky parents. In a tri-racial family, I was the unadopted one. One of my sisters (we were tricolor triplets) used to taunt me: Mom and Dad CHOSE me. They were STUCK with you! I hope you got the address of that woman in the taxi: she sounds like an auntie for your son.

Lovely lovely story. We are a 3-continent family, and proud of it! Our son is Ethiopian-born, a naturalized Italian, and recently acquired Canadian citizenship! We are teaching him to be proud of all three cultures and countries.

I liked your panda comments, we are penguins because penguins are also black and white and the daddies also take care of the eggs...we thought it was appropriate for our family and our son loves Happy Feet, where being different can be hard, but everyone is different and everyone should be accepted for what they are.
