Ooo, I love this piece. Maybe partly my Celtic heritage, maybe being a mother. And a stepmother. So well written, and how brave to have the piece critiqued by one's own daughter!
This gave me food for thought on how to be me, now, rather than me-in-the-past. My relationship with my husband's children, my relationship with my own daughter, and with my own mother, recently widowed. All these "me's" I have to be!
After several years of being bogged down in the motonony of the needs of small children (laundry, potty, mac & cheese) it is good to be reminded that this time is fleeting.

Wonderfully written. Much applause!

Love the imagery in this beautiful piece.
