"Mom, you know how you told me not to stick my finger in my nose?"

(Yes, honey.)

"Well, my teacher told me that it's because I might hurt my BRAINS!"

(Well, sweetie, your brains are up HERE... [pointing to brain])

"No! No! My TEACHER told me that my BRAINS could break. My Mem Brains!"

(Me, trying to stifle outright laughter, eyes watering, etc.:
Oh, yes, of course. You have "membranes" up in there that could get hurt, so we don't stick fingers or other things up there. Membranes. Different from Brains. Membranes. (went on to describe what membranes are)

"Yeah, Mem BRAINS."

My almost-four year old was not going to convince me that her Montessori teacher fed her a line about nose-picking causing brain damage. But I did almost wet myself laughing! We're talking Mem Brain, Child...
